War talk
A short book by Arundhati Roy, it touches widespread political issues. From the powerlessness of villagers and activists of Narmada Bachao Andolan where hunger strikes and following Ahimsa did not ring a lot of bells in the Government, to the mighty US, its foreign policy and its irreversible involvement in toppling other governments and its after effects - she has struck the right chord. She also gives instances of the prominent leaders of the world, emanating their non-secular OR 'our way is the only right way' beliefs. Lastly she talks about how information and media are distorted and are run in interests of a few influential people. This book exhibits her vivid perception of where the human race is headed and the causes that might ultimately destroy us.
I also read a book "God is not great". Its one of the most radical books I have come across. For agnostics it might be the Bible. For believers, I would recommend they stay away from it. Nevertheless it does have true accounts of how religion is the cause of almost all the fatal conflicts. I did not read the whole book though, cause after the first half dozen chapters his (Christopher Hitchens) message and point of view is reiterative.
