Moments
Somethings are unanticipated.
A DOUBLE .
An innocuos grip, a squishy release (the baby ball) and a lumbering roll can never get you a strike. Can it? She managed to get a couple!! I would have labelled it as unintentional, but its not just a fluke after two more spares, is it? Sumera, who could not manage 70 in the many times that she has bowled, scored her best with 138. Quite deservingly she was second to me out of the 7 of us, the other 5 (ashu, swati, srinu, santosh and shashi) not quite amateurish at bowling. Her consistency kinda bothered me. I would hardly like anyone else to have the bragging rights (not my WIFE especially :p ).
LOSE SOME TO GAIN SOME.
It was inevitable, compelling and absolutely vital. Straining my muscles for the first time in a gymnasium was a whole new experience. It is tough when you are really out of shape. People find it hard to believe that I have never exercised until now, when I am in my later 20's. I never realized I had to, until the latest sports activities caused me fatigue. I burnt a petty 100 calories in an hour with some demanding effort. IT IS TOUGH, but I hope to continue and do it more frequently.
WANNABE AGASSI.
The event has far less players than an ATP tournament. The quality of play is better unspoken. But the exuberance is overwhelming. It is not easy to gather 24 people and ask for a two hour commitment to a sport they are inept at. Maggie rated herself a 4.0 according to the national tennis rating system. She is top rated alongwith Justin Kubak. My first match was with her, and I knew it was going to be tough. What do you expect from a guy who is out of shape and hasn't held a racket since 3 years? It was a surprise to both of us that I could consistently hit the ball to the other end of the court. Two games into the match and I started volleying and this triggered her downfall. I won 6-3, 6-3. I still have 3 games to play and hope to top my league.
HIGHWAY TO HELL.
Being 25 miles away from work and driving 5 days a week in the miserable traffic conditions in the bay area requires patience. But what makes it clumsier is the inadequate state of 101. Rough roads hamper the serenity of what I call sleep driving in the mornings. My car is already worse than a garbage bin with all the coke tins and calistoga bottles lying everwhere. The last thing I need is some mechanical fault, courtesy of the jerks and strains shoved by the roads. All this might end soon. 101 is being re-surfaced. The stretch I use is half-done. There are still some gruesome patches but I can avoid them.
BENEFITS OF BEING MARRIED.
A daily lunch in some of the nook-iest or otherwise better restaurants in San Mateo has been commonplace for around 20 months. I think I have covered around 80% of edible restaurants in downtown San Mateo and Foster city. It was a hard practice to interrupt, but it happened a few days ago. My lunch that day was nutritious, exquisite and HOME-MADE. Quite good huh?
