India trip and more

I don't think I have had a better vacation in India. And I am not sure what was so different this time. Was it because of Anya and her first visit to India, OR was it because we had expected that Anya will fall sick in India, but she didn't. Maybe because we were exposed to a very luxurious setting. Or could be because it after a long gap of around 3.5 years that we were visiting India. Somehow this time around I enjoyed the traffic (though we had a driver), enjoyed visiting hot and dusty places like Matheran, enjoyed the humidity in Bombay, had a lot of appetite for mutton biryani, hyderabadi fish curry and sweets AND did not find most of the things out of buying power. I am sure the fun, frolic and "family" moments I had together - both in Bombay and Hyderabad will hold strong in my memories - so much as to seriously have us consider moving back for good.

My green card dates are just a couple of days away from being current. Really looking forward to it. That will definitely give us more options if we want to move back. Have been reading quite a few books. Interventions from Noam Chomsky, Undercover Economist by Tim Harford (have to read this one again), Dhirubhaism and Against All Odds (both by AG Krishmaurthy) and the current one which is a stunner. How an economy grows and why it crashes - a very sincere, unconventional way of explaining economics to the common man. If anyone wants to understand the importance of capital, savings, and how it inherently gets leveraged to increase productive capacities, this is the book. Always been a great fan of understanding "grass root" economics and this is IT!. Highly recommended. Will definitely write more about this once I finish it.
